According to John, a Dublin Airport baggage handler, these adornments can hinder the scanning process in the baggage hall. “If the bag can’t be scanned automatically, it can end up in manual processing, which could mean your bag doesn’t make it to the flight,” he revealed to RSVP Live.

John advises against leaving old stickers on your suitcase, as they can confuse the scanning system. Moreover, packing marzipan (almond candy dough) in your luggage is a surefire way to get your bag pulled for inspection. “Don’t ever pack marzipan in your luggage. It has the same density as some explosives, so your bag will be removed and you’ll be called from the plane for a bag search,” the Dublin baggage expert warned.
