Carrie Underwood, the country music sensation, found herself in an unexpected situation during her headlining performance at the Carolina Country Music Fest this weekend. Despite the challenges Mother Nature threw her way, the “Blown Away” singer refused to let a little rain or even a tumble dampen her spirits.
As video footage from the event reveals, Underwood took a slightly awkward fall while exiting the back of the stage, seemingly losing her footing while descending some stairs. Fans in attendance couldn’t help but notice the moment, with audible gasps and shouts of “She fell!” echoing through the crowd.
Unfazed by the Slippery Stage
However, the Play On artist didn’t let the fall – or the sudden downpour – spoil the fun of her set. Instead, she powered through the heavy storm, finishing her performance with the same energy and passion that has made her a beloved figure in the country music world.
“We won’t let a little rain stop us! We won’t let a massive downpour stop us, either!” Underwood captioned an Instagram video of her belting out tunes in the pouring rain before her fall, showcasing her unwavering commitment to her fans.
A Reminder of a More Serious Incident
While this recent stage mishap may have been unexpected, it pales in comparison to the more terrifying fall Underwood experienced in 2017 outside her Nashville home. That incident left her with a broken wrist that required surgery and multiple cuts to her face that needed over 40 stitches.
During a 2018 appearance on iHeartRadio’s The Bobby Bones Show, Underwood opened up about the accident, revealing that it occurred one night when she went to take her dogs out for a quick walk. “I was taking the dogs out to go pee one last time, and I just — I tripped,” she explained. “There was one step, and I didn’t let go of the leashes! Priorities! So that’s why my left hand’s fine. But I went to catch myself, and I just missed a step.”
Reflecting on the Gravity of the Situation
Underwood added, “If I had fallen anywhere else, I would have been perfectly fine. But it was one step that messed everything up.” Speaking on the fall to Storme Warren on SiriusXM’s The Highway channel as well, the Grammy-winning singer recalled, “I thought I just busted my lip. Then I walked inside and took the dog leashes off and took my coat off and went to go survey the damage and was like, ‘Oh, no!'”
“I’m acting very calm about it now, but … it wasn’t pretty,” she added. “I chipped my tooth, but it was just my skin, thank the Lord. Stitches and all that stuff.”
Resilience and Determination
Despite the challenges and setbacks she has faced, Carrie Underwood continues to demonstrate her resilience and determination, both on and off the stage. Her ability to power through unexpected situations and maintain her professionalism is a testament to her dedication to her craft and her fans.
As she moves forward, Underwood’s unwavering spirit and commitment to her music will undoubtedly continue to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide, reminding us all of the power of perseverance in the face of adversity.
