Gayle King is giving fans an intimate look into her son’s wedding day. The CBS Mornings co-anchor recently shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos and videos from her son William Bumpus Jr.’s nuptials, which took place at her longtime friend Oprah Winfrey’s house. The stunning event was a true celebration of love and family, with King capturing every special moment.
Shortly after revealing on-air that her son had tied the knot with his bride Elise Smith, King took to Instagram to share a glimpse of the beautiful ceremony. The posts offered a candid look at the couple’s big day, from the rehearsal to the reception.
A Garden Wedding Fit for Royalty
In one Instagram post, King shared photos of the wedding ceremony itself, which was held in Winfrey’s picturesque garden. The bride, Elise Smith, looked radiant in a strapless Amsale gown, while the groom, William Bumpus Jr., donned a matching white suit jacket and slacks. The couple held hands as they exchanged vows beneath a stunning rose flower arch, with Smith’s father officiating the ceremony.
Another snap showed King, Bumpus Jr., and Winfrey posing together, with the three of them beaming with joy. King looked elegant in a blue one-shoulder Amsale dress, while Winfrey opted for a pale rose-colored gown.
A Celebration of Love and Family
The rest of the photos captured the newlyweds’ reception, where they took selfies with their wedding party and fed each other cake. The post concluded with romantic shots of the couple gazing lovingly at each other as sparklers shined in a line behind them, creating a magical atmosphere.
In a separate Instagram post, King shared a video from the rehearsal, where the bride and groom could be seen holding hands as they walked down a staircase towards the altar. She also shared several other fun photos from the rehearsal, including one of her, Bumpus Jr., and Elise posing together in the center of the garden area.
A Warm Welcome and Impromptu Dance Party
King also gave fans a glimpse of the setup for the couple’s welcome dinner at Rosewood Miramar Beach. The event featured a multi-colored rose flower arch and dining tables adorned with multicolored flowers, blue silverware, and candles, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The welcome dinner also turned into an impromptu dance party, with the bride and groom singing along to Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” and dancing to Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September,” adding to the joyous celebration.
More Celebrations to Come
According to King, the newlyweds will be continuing their celebration with friends, as the first ceremony had been “strictly for family.” Bumpus Jr. and Smith were planning on holding “a big dance party” for those who weren’t able to attend the intimate garden wedding at Winfrey’s house.
